Custom Biome Preset
A palette shared by several biomes. A definition points at a preset and overrides only what differs.
Without it, a family of biomes that share an atmosphere — the same fog, the same sky, the same star brightness — has to repeat every value, and changing the mood means editing each one by hand.
Fields
A preset carries the same colour and visual attribute fields as a definition, and nothing else: no id, no base biome, no climate. It describes a look, not a biome.
Colours — fogColor, skyColor, waterColor, waterFogColor, grassColor, foliageColor,
dryFoliageColor, sunriseSunsetColor, cloudColor, skyLightColor.
Visual attributes — fogStartDistance, fogEndDistance, skyFogEndDistance,
waterFogStartDistance, waterFogEndDistance, cloudFogEndDistance, cloudHeight,
skyLightFactor, sunAngle, moonAngle, starAngle, starBrightness, moonPhase.
See Custom Biome Definition for what each one does and its accepted range.
Precedence
For every field, in order:
- the value set on the definition, if any;
- otherwise the value from the preset, if one is set;
- otherwise the value from the base biome.
A definition can therefore adopt an atmosphere wholesale and still diverge on one detail.
Example
A spectral night shared by several biomes:
skyColor: #1A0B2E
fogColor: #2D1B45
cloudColor: #3D2A5A
skyLightColor: #6B4A9A
fogStartDistance: 8.0
fogEndDistance: 96.0
skyLightFactor: 0.55
starBrightness: 1.0
moonPhase: full_moon
A corrupted forest and a haunted swamp can both point at it, each keeping its own grass and water colours. Changing the fog once changes it for both.
